|
|
* If the Blue Wire [Speedometer Input] is not connected to the
Boxster or 996, the AutoTop will function correctly, although it will NOT be
able to monitor the cars speed and thus disable the Convertible
Top Switch at speeds greater than 25mph.

|
Remove Bottom Radio plug. [This step may vary from Radio to
Radio] The radio will have a diagram on top identifying the
Speedometer Input. Verify the correct wire before proceeding. On
a 1997 the wire is Grey/Brown and is in the bottom Molex. It is the
top/right pin in the Molex if viewed from the front. Once again this
can and will vary, so verify for yourself before installing the Blue Wire. |

Attach the Blue Wire from the AutoTop to the Speedo trigger wire from the
radio. [Grey/Brown on some Porsches] This can be done two ways.
1. We recommend stripping the wire back and soldering in the Blue
wire to the circuit. This can be harder or not recommended for those
without soldering irons, etc.
2. Use the included Tap to spice into the Radios Speedometer Input
wire, this is fast and easy, and works just as well. [Remember to verify you
are attaching it to the correct wire by checking the schematic on the top of
your radio or NAV system]

What if my radio does not have the speed wire? |
|
Some Porsche radios do not have the speed input for speed variable
volume. This is usually when the car has DSP. In this case just
run the blue wire to the Cabriolet Top Relay and insert the wire into where
Pin 18 would go. In some cases this is faster than removing the radio. |

|
* If your Convertible Top Switch does not function as described on
the product page, please verify your connections to the Switch and
the Car Wiring Harness. If you do not connect the Blue wire
the AutoTop Computer thinks the Vehicle is NOT in motion and the
top can be actuated when the car is operating at any speed.
